Linking Tasks to Projects

Every task belongs to exactly one project. If you don't pick one when creating the task, it goes into the Personal bucket by default.

Linking tasks

Assigning a Task to a Project

You can pick a project when creating a task, or assign one later:

  1. Open the task detail sheet.
  2. Tap the project field.
  3. Pick from the list of your existing projects (or Personal).

That's it. The task moves to the new project immediately; the old project's task count decrements and the new one's increments.

One Project per Task

A task lives in exactly one project at a time. You can't assign a task to multiple projects simultaneously.

If a task genuinely straddles two projects - say it's both "Work" and "Professional development" - you have two choices:

  • Pick the project that's the primary context for this task.
  • If the task is part of a larger objective, link it to a goal (goals accept multiple task links even when projects don't).

Moving a Task Between Projects

Editing a task's project field moves it. No loss, no warning needed:

  • The task's history stays intact (completions don't re-trigger).
  • Silver you've already earned from completions stays in your balance.
  • The task's goal links, sub-tasks, and description are preserved.

What Happens When You Delete a Project

Deleting a project asks you what to do with its tasks:

  • Move them to Personal (default) - tasks survive, project vanishes.
  • Delete everything together - tasks gone too.

"Move to Personal" is the safe default because it preserves your task history without forcing you to manually re-assign every task.

The Filter Is Persistent

Once you pick a project filter on the Lifegrid, it stays set until you change it. Pick "Work" in the morning; come back after lunch and the Lifegrid is still filtered to "Work."

If you want to see everything, set the filter back to "All" explicitly.

Use the filter to commit to a context

If you're trying to focus on one area of your life for the next hour, setting the project filter is a small ritual that removes the other areas' noise from your view. It works better than hoping you'll ignore the other tasks.

Project-Filtered Lifegrid Is Global

The project filter is global, not per-tab. If you filter to "Work" in the Day view, the Week, Month, and Year views are all filtered to "Work" too. You see only Work-related tasks at every time scale.
