Getting Started
A quick tour of your first steps with Scope. Most of the real action happens once you've set up a couple of habits, so this guide gets you to that point fast.

Creating Your Account
You can start with an anonymous account or a full registered one:
- Anonymous - no email required. You can use almost every feature, but you can't appear on the leaderboard, upload a custom profile picture, or publish premade habits. Upgrading later is always possible.
- Registered - email + password, or sign in with a provider. Unlocks everything.
Either way, the first real step after account creation is picking a class.
Choosing an Avatar Class
Scope prompts you to pick one of four avatar classes - Knight, Wizard, Archer, or Rogue - before the app lets you into anything else. It's a permanent choice, so take a moment with it.
- Knight if you identify with steadiness, reliability, and grinding through the hard thing.
- Wizard if you lean into research, learning, and careful planning.
- Archer if you live by one-focused-goal-at-a-time.
- Rogue if adaptability and speed of thought are your edge.
Each class has a distinct combat identity. See Avatar Classes for the full breakdown.
Setting Up Your First Habits
Habits are the core of everything. Even a handful of simple habits kick off most of the app's mechanics:
- Pick one or two good habits - things you want to build. "Go for a run", "Meditate for 10 minutes", "Read a book before bed."
- Optionally, pick one bad habit - something you want to stop. "Stop scrolling at night", "Avoid junk food after 10 PM."
- Set each habit's category, schedule, and unit. See Creating a Habit.
Every good habit spawns a soldier companion who fights for you. Every bad habit spawns a demon you aim to starve out. The habits are doing two jobs at once - tracking your consistency and building your in-game roster.
Start small
Three or four habits you can realistically keep beats ten you half-ignore. You can always add more later as slots unlock.
Exploring the Adventure Board
Once you've logged at least one good habit, the Adventure Board opens up for you. Every good habit completion today grants a quest pass you can spend on a quest.
Your first quest is the quickest way to see how the combat loop works. Start with one of the short boss-only quests to get a feel for the flow.
Writing Your First Journal Entry
Journaling is Scope's reflection tool - and it unlocks an unexpectedly big daily reward. Writing any journal entry today grants:
- XP and silver.
- Four free arena tickets (a full day's worth of PvP).
- Potentially a real-life stat bump via AI analysis on daily entries.
A two-sentence free-write is enough to unlock the whole bundle. You don't have to write an essay.
Where to Go Next
Once you've got your first habits, completed your first quest, and written your first journal entry, the rest of the app opens up:
- Set a goal - pick a premade goal for a curated journey, or design your own.
- Check the Onboarding Checklist - it'll nudge you through the remaining features with small gold and XP rewards.
- Explore the Shop - every day at 18:00 local time, eight new items appear.
