Soldier HP

A soldier walks into battle at its source habit's current HP percentage. The link is direct: if the habit is at 60% HP, the soldier starts the fight at 60% of its max HP. Show up for the habit in real life, the soldier shows up healthy in the fight.

Soldier HP

The Chain

  1. Your habit's HP percentage is computed from your completion history - see Streaks & Habit HP.
  2. The soldier's max HP is a function of its class, its level, and its allocated Vitality attribute.
  3. At the start of every battle, the soldier's current HP is max HP × (habit HP%).

That's the whole bridge. There's no separate soldier-HP tracker you maintain - the habit carries everything.

The 1-HP Floor

Even at 0% habit HP, the soldier enters battle with 1 HP - not zero. A neglected habit's soldier is still on the field, but one hit will take them out. It's a visible consequence, not a disqualification.

HP Doesn't Carry Between Battles

Damage taken in one fight doesn't follow the soldier into the next. Every new battle starts with HP rebuilt from the habit's current percentage.

  • Multi-phase dungeons reset soldier HP between encounters within the same run.
  • Heal between encounters? Nothing to do - the reset handles it.
  • Take damage in encounter 1 but not 2? The damage is erased.

The state that persists across battles is the habit's HP percentage, not the battle-instance HP. In-battle damage is ephemeral.

Why it works this way

Pinning persistent damage on the soldier would double-punish you - neglect the habit, take an in-battle loss, and then carry both forward. The design keeps the real-life layer as the one that matters between sessions. The battle itself is a single-encounter snapshot of the current habit state.

Defeat in Battle

A soldier who drops to 0 HP is out for the rest of that encounter - they don't act, don't take hits, don't get healed. There's no permanent death, no fallen-soldier state, no revival item to worry about. When the next battle starts, the soldier is back at full habit HP.

How to Bring a Soldier to Full HP for a Fight

You don't heal the soldier directly. You bring the habit up to 100% HP in real life:

  • Log the habit for today's show day (bonus HP if you fully meet the goal).
  • Don't miss any upcoming show days.
  • Once the habit's HP climbs back up, the soldier arrives fresh to the next fight.

Check HP before entering a dungeon

If your dungeon party includes a soldier whose habit is low on HP, consider whether you can log a completion or two before starting the run. Walking in with your team at 60% is a much steeper fight than walking in at 100%.
